Ok... another question... Does 'wash' mean 'wash' or does it just mean 'rinse'? I'm assuming that that the purpose of the 'wash' is merely to soften it up for the customer and get rid of 'excess' dye. Are there other reasons?

different companies have different techniques when they wash their jeans, but its more of common wash than rinse over with water.

those reason you stated and if the jeans are nonsanforized, to also shrink to tagged size.

I prefer choosing raw over one-wash to be able to control the whole shrinking process, and also because i like to start from scratch so that everything i did to the jeans after they were produced in their raw state has been done by myself.

On most occasions i've heard one-wash jeans to still shrink up more after they'd been washed and most of the time they have a wrinkled look, not the way my raw jeans look after their first soak and wash.
Also the denim seems to be softer than i desire after an industrial wash.

I think your jeans are softer because they were dried in a dryer.

Just add some starch to them or actually wash them again but hang dry and they should stiffen up.

Looking at some of the comments on here, do you think there would be a market for someone to sell a 'wearing in' service.
I know alot of people don't like wearing in jeans and want instant results. So someone could offer to wear a pair of jeans for X days charged at £1 per day or whatever. That way people can have 'instant' results when they receive the jeans and the person offering the service gets paid to wear some F-in crazy jeans!
I'm sure someone should offer this service - I'm betting there would be a few takers.

i've thought about that actually.

it sounds like a good idea, but when you try making it a reality...its too much effort and time, and you have to wait a long time for a good fade...which leads you to -----> prefaded jeans.
